HCA: 1,300 homes to be built in Hampshire

Builders in Southampton could be busy in the coming months after it was announced 1,300 affordable homes are to be constructed in Hampshire.

The Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) and Wayfarer Partnership have agreed a four-year deal worth £20 million to deliver the properties.

Colin Molton, HCA executive director for the south and south-west, observed it is “great news” for the local community. “The hard work starts now and we will be focused on ensuring that people see the benefits of our investment over the next four years,” he added.

As well as developing 1,300 properties in Hampshire, there will be a total of 12,700 abodes constructed in the south and south-west of England.

The HCA has also revealed the Great Places Housing Group has secured funding for over 1,750 properties across the north-west and South Yorkshire.

It is the most valuable contract that has been agreed so far under the Affordable Homes Programme.
