We’ve been matching homeowners with local, skilled tradespeople since 2005. From getting an extension built to assembling flat pack furniture, no job’s too big or too small. With us, it’s easy to find the right professional.
Our tradespeople are checked and monitored
You can be confident in the tradespeople we have on our platform:
- We team up with a third party to carry out fraud checks against national and local databases
- We only let tradespeople buy gas leads if they provide us with valid Gas Safe certification details
- We monitor tradespeople’s behaviour and performance, with a system that identifies any red flags – making sure they remain up to scratch months and years down the line
How it works
1.
Create a job – it’s free
Whatever you need doing around the house, we can match you with the right tradesperson. With over 30 specialist trades, covering the whole of the UK, every job’s covered. Just give us as much detail as possible and add pictures if you can, so you’re more likely to get a quicker and accurate quote from tradespeople.
2.
Get quotes
Tradespeople will get in touch to provide a quote. They pay a small fee to do this, at which point they get to see your contact details, so do let them know you’ve received their email or call.
When you post a job, you’ll give us a timeframe for when you want the work done. Only available tradespeople who work in your area will provide a quote, so it’s easy to get the ball rolling.
3.
Check ratings
You’ll get a link to each tradesperson’s profile page where you can see their ratings and reviews. Only homeowners who have found their tradesperson through our site can leave ratings, so they’re based on genuine experiences.
Read more about how our ratings work.
4.
Pick a tradesperson
Once you’ve looked at a tradesperson’s profile page, go through our homeowner checklist.
Tradespeople are vetted and monitored but it always pays to do a bit of extra background research on who you’re looking to hire. Our checklist takes you through how to do this, and has handy pointers for making a contract and managing payments.
5.
Job done
After the work’s complete, come back to Rated People and rate your tradesperson based on the quality of their work, reliability and value for money. Your feedback helps other homeowners decide who to hire.
What’s on a profile page
As well as ratings and reviews, profile pages contain all sorts of useful information to help you decide if a tradesperson’s right for your job. Keep an eye out for:
A badge telling you how long they’ve been registered with Rated People
Their company description to gauge what they’re skilled in
A work gallery where you’ll find photos of their work for previous customers
