Making a note of the number of plumbers in Liverpool could be a wise move ahead of the winter, in case the season is particularly cold.
Should it turn out to be so, the threat of burst pipes and other difficulties may rise, leaving British families in the cold.
Anne McIntosh MP, co-chair of the All Party Parliamentary Water Group and chairman of the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Select Committee, launched the Get Ready for Winter campaign this week. She said freezing temperatures can be a disaster for both property dwellers and business owners.
“In some ways we were not prepared – both individually and collectively – for the severity of the weather,” she stated, referring to last year’s bitter conditions.
Jean Spencer, regulation director for Anglian Water, added that last year saw a record number of burst pipes plague Britons. The Consumer Council for Water this week suggested that people should attempt to become more efficient in their consumption of the liquid.
