Can you ask a tradesman for a partial refund for a badly done job?

I've recently hired someone to install shower wall panels however the one of the panel has chipped while he was cutting using a manual saw. Now when the panel has been inserted into the corner trim, there's a gap and water seeps in - it is no longer water-tight/water proof. Applying additional silicon OUTSIDE the trim, just to cover the obvious gap between the panel and the trim is not an option - because that is just simply wrong and defeats the purpose of the wall panel installation. Can I ask for a partial refund since I need to 1) purchase another panel and trim to replace what the tradesman had damaged and 2) hire someone else to do the job better this time.
