Replace a fan extraction system serving two adjacent rooms

I have seperate toilet and bathroom the extractor is in the toilet and connects to an external outlet. The extractor fan is connected by a pipe across the bathroom through the wall to an inlet in the bathroom. This for around 1974 am looking to replace and still comply with current building regulations
