I'm having new windows and a bi- fold door where my patio door was. Tge winfow installer sent their surveyor who advised I would need a lintel. I was quoted £1000 plus VAT. I questioned this so they revised it to £800 pkus VAT.
Once the patio doors were removed the builder turned up and called me over to tell me I did not need a lintel as the course of bricks above the opening were connected to the concrete behind them ( inside the house). He said he would charge the widow installer a callout fee.
The installer now wants to take £600 off the bill and charge me £200 for the callout. Can they pass on the cost like that to me? After all they are the ones who had gotten it wribg in saying I needed one?
