How do I remove plaster air vent and fill gap for smooth finish prior to decoration. Proud from wall by over 1 centimetre? Police house, early 1950's

Chisel plaster vent off cut two bricks to size , plaster with bonding plaster , let dry then skim with finish plaster smooth & flush with wall G.branch plastering

Hi Paul people block up these vents and cause problems with condensation and black mould I would suggest going looking at bq at the vent covers they have which screw to the wall and still vent the room regards steve

Hi Paul Chop round the air vent back to the brickwork so that you are left with the hole created for the vent with an edge roun it. Cut a piece of plasterboard to fit the hole. Mix a little bit of plaster, then after wetting the hole, put the plaster round the edge of the plasterboard and press it into the air brick shaped hole. Press just so the surface is level with the plaster. Fill any holes round it, then it ready for decorating.
