Bathroom extractor fan stopped working

Posted by Amy Wright, on
My Manrose bathroom extractor fan stopped working.. Fan is connected to main light via 3-pole isolator switch (if isolator is 'on', the fan turns on when the light is switch on, and remains running for a few minutes after light switched off). Had always worked with no problems, then left it running one day & when I came back later it didn't work any more. Replaced fan unit with brand new one - still did not work. Replaced isolator switch with brand new one - still did not work. The light itself is working fine so suspect wiring fault between isolator switch & extractor fan? Is there any other possible/likely cause or do I need to get in an electrician to re-wire? In which case, how will they access wiring?

Hi Amy I take it we are taking an upstairs bathroom. Basically you will have a 3core and earth cable between your light and fan via the isolation switch. You will have a switch feed which triggers the fan when the light comes on and a perm live which allows the fan to run on for a set amount of time after turning off the light. The wiring should be easy to access and test and both the light and fan units within the bathroom.Should be an easy fix Hope this helps If your in Lancashire you can find me on Facebook Russ
