Hi Emie If you have squeke chip board it means that have not been fitted as it should so please remove it and put it back again Regards Raf
Make sure that they are not nailed as they are the main cause of squeeking as nails work their way back up eventually. Screw all the boards down and check for the noisiest squeeks and put a screw in making sure not to hit pipes. Check clearance around radiator pipes. It could be the joist as well as the season is changing with expansion and contraction
Hi Ernie the modern method of fixing tongue and groove chipboard flooring is to use a flexible adhesive which forms a sound deadening barrier between the joist and the board,' No Squeak' from Norboard is an example. The advantage of this method is you achieve a flexible fixing along the full length of the joist rather than the spot fixing of screws or nails. Also remember to put PVA type glue along the tongues of the boards and make sure all board ends sit on a joist rather than floating. This type of adhesive is not cheap but if it stops the squeak its money well spent. Hope this helps. Thanks. Ed.
Hi. Just need more screws or nails do not need lift up.
Hello, As a specialist floor know how disruptive this is a problem and often meet him. There are two out of this situation: 1 - Use more finger screws in most places where the floor squeaks. (DIY) 2 - Make an appointment with a person like me and discuss the details, I will solve the problem of creaking floors as follows: -Removal of existing coverage - Removing boards - Repair and ("blocking") of the existing wooden structure. - Make everything from scratch, and a few years of peace and quiet :) Wood is still dry and the buildings are still moving and Tad cur problem. regards Pepe GTB
