Integrated to free-standing fridge-freezer

Posted by Emma Castle, on
I tried to list this job, but didn't have any responses; is there anything I can do to make it more appealing to tradesmen? I'm looking to change the space that currently holds an integrated fridge-freezer to one that will take a free standing one. I'm not sure what materials would be required or whether the current end panels etc could be utilised. There are no plans, but the work will actually be removing the current standard size integrated fridge-freezer and replacing it with a free-standing one and making good afterwards, creating a neat surround and possibly by adding a cupboard over the new appliance...I'm open to ideas! (I'm looking to start the work in March/April)

Hi Emma. A tall int fge/fzr is in a unit 600mm wide with an internal size of minus the thickness of the carcass (15 or 18mm) if your new free standing appliance is not as big, you can use the side panels and reduce height, but realistically your not saving any space other than approx. 2inch's over the width and maybe a little head room. but then if you re-use the side panels it will just be the same? What area do you reside? Steve

You will be left with a 600mm wide gap with units either side with screw holes. If you cover the screw holes with new end panels you will have a gap of 560 to 570 mm depending on thickness of end panels. Your freestanding appliance needs to fit in this gap.
