Replacing a Mira88 shower valve with a modern exposed valve.

Hiya, my current shower is outdated and looks grimy due to age. I want to replace it with a new exposed valve and shower fittings. Other than the distance between the hot and cold pipe outlet Is there anything else I need to consider? I have the specs for the Mira88 which I found online so I am confident I can remove it but the new fitting looks to have a mixer set up with two taps. I think this is ok but the Mira has a ‘wheel’ control. Any advice would be appreciated.
