I have been asked to cure a very old high level wash down loo that looks like a real antique. Victorian… The customer recently bought the place… There is lots of quirky plumbing, grossly undersized column radiators with gate valves rather than rad valves attached and this toilet has a great two piece wooden seat and a pan with blue decor… a real Antique Roadshow job. I replaced the float valve as the customer reported a lot of water being discharged outside via the overflow (warning) pipe. The siphon is one I have never seen the like of before… solid metal construction with a solid metal arm to a pull chain. A small amount of water…, a small bead is now constantly running down the long twisting flush pipe and into the pan. I really don’t understand this,.. were they designed to always have a little trickle of water going into the pan? So at the moment the float valve does not shut off… if this was the design feature I don’t want to risk dismantling the siphon for nothing unless I’m confident there is a possible fix…. Anyone experienced anything like this. ? I’d appreciate any advice.
