Water pressure in boiler nonexistent but I over filled it in error.

See above. Turned boiler off and there's a huge shuddering of the pipes under the boiler as it pumps water out of an overflow in the garden. I didn't turn any valve for this to happen. Massive shuddering of the pipes and water gushing out. Been like it for over an hour. Gauge shuddering too and not really going down, only fractionally. Help!
