Badly spalled brick and stonework on front of house

Posted by John Bates, on
The soft red brickwork on our house was painted over about 10 years ago, and poor guttering (recently repaired) has meant water badly spalling a lot of the brickwork under it. Stone lintels under the windows are also in poor condition. What's best to do here? Get the paint removed and the brick/stonework repaired? Or do we just have to accept the damage and apply a render over it all?
