The excavation phase of a patio revamp was completed without problems - but the building phase bombed. A manhole cover wasn't laid straight; the workers said it was too hard - but a nudge with a foot was enough. Their idea of drainage was a plastic pipe just laid on the ground (!), blocking the air bricks (!!). This looked like child's play more than grown-up's work, and I pulled the plug on the job. A week later, the tradesman still hasn't collected his advertising board.
