I learnt my trade working for the local council, and have now been in the trade for over 30 years. I have found that giving people a fixed price quotation and an honest time scale has always been the best policy. And of course we are fully insured. you don't need a deposit, you just pay when we are finished.

i needed a few garden fence panels and posts replacing - Steve quickly arranged to view the job, we agreed a price and he completed the work, which included removing the old panels and posts. I would definitely use him again.
