I have over 15yrs experience in the painting and decorating trade and I had my own business in Brighton and Hove. I now live in Dorset and have had my business DP Handy Neighbour for 3 yrs. I specialise in painting and decorating, all internal and external jobs, but I also have skills with tiling, carpentary, flooring and i have recently completed a course and am fully trained in the fitting of Geberit wash and dry toilets. I have certificates in Health and safety, NVQ level 1 and have NVQ level 2 in painting and decorating. I absolutely love what i do and there is no job too big or too small. When the job was done the roofer gave us guarantee, stating that the guarantee was the reason for the high price. Less than a year later, the leaks reappeared, even worse than before. The roofer came and himself admitted the job was not up to standard and he had to fix it. When we reached back to schedule the fix, he stopped responding. We have been chasing for weeks and there has been no answer. I would not hire this plumber or roofer, they are not reliable and the standard of their workmanship is poor.
Our quote was higher than others as we quoted to coat the stairs three times with a high quality varnish because they were in such a bad way, however the customer did not want to pay for this so we kindly matched the other quote, and this was only to put one coat of mid range varnish on. As with all previously painted low grade pine to achieve a good even finish you need to build on the layers and this customer did not want to pay for this. On finishing this job we had advised the customer that additional coats were needed and offered to do them at a reduced price. The flooring as mentioned by the customer is good and we also matched a lower quote for this.
