Telephone lines

Where would you find a telephone (landline) technician? We have a landline socket which is needed for home working in the back bedroom but it does not work. The master socket downstairs works. At present we run a wire up the stairs to use the landline but wondered how difficult/expensive it would be to get the inbuilt socket working again? It's a relatively modern house built in the 1990s. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks, Charlotte
